Being a self taught artist, working as an artist full-time has been a life long dream. In addition to a long professional career in a family owned busines, I have been a floral designer, a soap maker, jewelry maker, and pursued many other creative avenues.
I still enjoy bead making, working with polymer clay, ceramics, pottery and sewing.
Experimenting with pyrography (wood burning), and painting, I began my obsession with gourds.
My Work
I've worked in watercolors, and pen/ink; but like pyrography just love the combination of lines, shading, and texturizing that can be done on a wonderfully gourd canvas. Add carving, and sawing, and sanding and using power tools, and Wow! what fun?
As my person preference. I really like the gourds to get moldy. This creates great spots and textures on the gourds.
